Support the Ikarian Sailing Club
We are happy to announce that we had a chance to extend our activities on Ikaria by starting a new collaboration with the Nautical Club of Ikaria (NOI).
The Nautical Club of Ikaria (NOI), located in the Marina of Agios Kirikos, started its activities in 2016 with the aim to offer sailing lessons to all Ikarians in order to reconnect them not only with their cultural heritage as seafearers but also with the sea and maritime life. Since then NOI has developped manifold activities by organising sailing lessons and regattas. Specific focus is given to activities for children, e. g. by organizing swimming lessons. In 2020 they reinforced their efforts and started sailing lessons for the youngsters. In order to do so, they need good equipment (boats, swimming vests etc.) to ensure safety on the sea.
We have decided to support their efforts, as their aim is in line with the goals of our association, to support activities in the fields of education and cultural heritage.
We donated 508 EUR to buy 2 sails and the corresponding equipment for boats for the youngsters. 208 EUR are coming from our account and 300 EUR had been given as a specific donation for this project.
We are wishing NOI good luck with their activities and we are looking forward to see many new captains sailing safely and with a lot of fun along the shores of Ikaria.
